Marvel is reportedly changing the title of its upcoming Avengers film in light of Jonathan Majors’ legal troubles.
Majors, known for his role as Kang the Conqueror, is facing repercussions after being convicted of assault. Previously seen in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Loki,” he was set to play a significant role in the next Avengers movie, titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.”
However, Marvel has decided to alter the course by rewriting and renaming the film following Majors’ assault conviction involving his ex-girlfriend. Despite being convicted on some counts, he was acquitted on others. Marvel had already begun distancing itself from Majors prior to his conviction, with insiders indicating that his character’s prominence was being reduced due to disappointing box office results.
The studio has yet to unveil the new title for the Avengers movie, slated for release in May 2026.
This development coincides with Marvel’s ongoing restructuring efforts, including the announcement of the cast for the reboot of “Fantastic Four,” a beloved franchise joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn are set to portray key characters, though the role of the supervillain Victor von Doom remains vacant.
Majors’ career has taken a hit beyond the Avengers franchise. He was dropped by his management team and removed from various projects, including the adaptation of “The Man in My Basement” and “Magazine Dreams.”
