Marvin Harrison Jr. Leverages New Fanatics Deal by Declining NFLPA Licensing Agreement

Marvin Harrison Jr. Holds Out on NFLPA Licensing Agreement

Recently, Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. made headlines by holding a jersey with his name on it. However, fans eager to support him won’t find his jersey for sale, as he hasn’t signed the NFLPA joint licensing agreement.

According to John Weinfuss of ESPN.com, Harrison has an existing deal with Fanatics, the distributor of NFL player jerseys, despite not signing the NFLPA licensing deal. The agreement with Fanatics was inked before the 2023 season and is valued at over $1 million. It encompasses various opportunities, including autographs, signed trading cards, and marketing ventures. Harrison is reportedly leveraging his hesitation to sign the standard NFLPA licensing deal to negotiate a new deal with Fanatics.

While NFL players are required to be union members, signing the NFLPA licensing deal is optional. Former NFL linebacker LaVar Arrington is a notable example of a player who consistently declined to sign, resulting in his absence from the Madden video game series.
