According to a report by AppleInsider, the upcoming introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) is set to bring significant changes to the user interface, particularly in Safari. While these updates will be showcased at the upcoming World Wide Developers Conference, Safari is expected to incorporate advanced blocking features to combat unwanted content.
This aligns with Apple’s recent focus on prioritizing user privacy, making it increasingly difficult for apps to track user activities. The report suggests the introduction of a feature called Web Eraser, designed to enable users to selectively remove specific elements from web pages. Users will have the ability to erase banner ads, images, text, or entire sections of a webpage, with these preferences persisting across sessions, even after closing the browser.
Additionally, Safari will introduce a new feature called Intelligent Search, which will offer a consolidated page controls menu for quick access to various tools, including the browser’s Intelligent Search feature. This feature, powered by on-device AI technology, will provide text summaries by identifying topics and key phrases within web pages, all while maintaining user privacy and security.
The integration of AI will also streamline page control menus, making options such as zoom settings, privacy controls, and content blocking choices more accessible and easier to use. Looking ahead to 2025, there are indications of more powerful visual search features similar to the Visual Lookup feature used by Siri, allowing for the identification of plants, pets, and landmarks from photos.
