In North Platte, Nebraska, the Lincoln County Crime Stoppers hosted their annual golf outing this past Sunday at Indian Meadows Golf Course. This year marked the 30th anniversary of the event, which saw around 72 golfers forming 18 foursomes. As the organization’s biggest fundraiser, the golf outing plays a key role in supporting the mission of the Lincoln County Crime Stoppers, which is to encourage community vigilance and make it easier for people to report suspicious activity or crimes.
Dan Eastburn, a board member for the Lincoln County Crime Stoppers, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout and urged the community to stay alert. He explained that the Crime Stoppers board meets monthly, but most of the actual work is done by Rory Little, the police coordinating officer from the North Platte Police Department. According to Eastburn, Little’s role is to collect tips from the public and follow up on them. If the tip involves a different jurisdiction, they pass it along, but if it leads to an arrest, the tipster is eligible for a reward.
Overall, the golf outing was a successful event, bringing the community together while also raising important funds to support crime-fighting efforts in Lincoln County.
