At Apple’s event on Monday, they unveiled an upgraded version of their Magic Keyboard, the popular accessory for iPads.
According to Apple, the Magic Keyboard has undergone a significant redesign, resulting in a thinner and lighter profile. Notable additions include a function row for easy access to controls like screen brightness, volume adjustment, and play/pause. The new Magic Keyboard also boasts aluminum palm rests and a larger trackpad. Apple claims it’s more responsive, thanks to haptic feedback, and it even includes a USB-C port for charging.
This marks the first major update to the Magic Keyboard since its debut in 2020. With the addition of the function row, it now matches its counterpart, the Magic Keyboard Folio, in terms of features.
The revamped Magic Keyboard is available in two sizes – one for the 11-inch iPad Pro and another for the 13-inch model. It comes in black and white color options. Pre-orders are open today at the same price as the previous generation – $299 for the 11-inch version and $349 for the 13-inch version. They’ll hit stores next week.
In addition to the Magic Keyboard news, Apple introduced a new Smart Folio for the iPad Air. It attaches magnetically and offers multiple viewing angles for enhanced flexibility compared to the older model.
The Smart Folio comes in charcoal gray, light violet, denim, and sage color options, priced at $79 for the 11-inch iPad Air version and $99 for the 13-inch version.
Other announcements from the event included a new iPad Air featuring an M2 chip and a 13-inch size option, a revamped iPad Pro with the all-new M4 chip and stacked OLED screens for improved display quality, a Pro version of the Apple Pencil with new sensors, and an updated version of the Magic Keyboard.
