Katy Perry missed out on the Met Gala festivities this year, but that didn’t stop her fans – and even her own mother – from thinking otherwise.
Amidst the buzz surrounding the event, images began circulating online purportedly featuring Perry at the Met Gala. However, it turns out these photos were actually created using artificial intelligence (AI).
The AI-generated pictures depicted Perry adorned in outfits fitting the gala’s garden theme, fooling many into believing she was in attendance.
In a playful move, Perry decided to share these AI-created images on her own Instagram account, along with a cheeky caption: “Couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work.”
Adding to the amusement, Perry also shared a screenshot of a text conversation with her mom, who fell for the ruse and praised Perry’s gown. Her mom’s message read, “Ha Feather! Didn’t know you went to the Met. What a gorgeous gown. You look like the Rose Parade, you are your own float lol.”
Perry couldn’t resist teasing her mom in response, writing, “lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!”
While Perry’s absence was noted this year, she has a history of making memorable Met Gala appearances, such as her iconic chandelier ensemble in 2019.
In this light-hearted exchange, Perry and her mom showcased their playful banter and the unexpected ways in which technology can blur the lines between reality and imagination.
