“The Boogeyman is coming.”
That’s what former Indiana Pacers hall-of-famer Reggie Miller said earlier this week as he geared up to call a playoff game between the Pacers and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Known for his clutch shooting, trash-talking, and overall gamesmanship, Miller was a thorn in the side for Knicks fans throughout his nearly 20-year NBA career.
One of his most infamous rivalries involved Knicks superfan Spike Lee, with whom he shared many memorable moments. Now, it seems another famous face has joined the mix—actor Ben Stiller.
During TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” Miller was standing in the tunnel at Madison Square Garden with the crew, recounting how much New Yorkers despise him. “People are like, ‘Aren’t you worried about going back to New York City and calling a game?’ No. I’ve owned this city, I’ve owned this building,” he said. “So why would I be worried about walking out there? I love when New Yorkers come up to me in the airport or walking around the city and the first thing they say is, ‘I hate you. I really do detest you.'”
As he spoke, someone passing by him in the tunnel suddenly turned, pointed a finger, and pretended to shout at him. It was none other than Ben Stiller. The two shared a laugh, and later, Miller was seen hugging Stiller on the sideline.
Meanwhile, Spike Lee came prepared with two framed copies of New York Daily News and NY Post headlines commemorating their legendary battles over the years, presenting them to Miller on the broadcast.
Seems like the Boogeyman still knows how to make his presence felt at Madison Square Garden.
