HyperFiber, an independent provider of high-speed fiber-optic internet service, is expanding its coverage to over 31,000 homes in Port Charlotte, announced Dan Kennedy, the company’s president and CEO.
Kennedy emphasized that this investment offers residents a new choice in internet providers, allowing them to access the convenience and advantages of HyperFiber’s fiber-optic internet service.
In collaboration with Charlotte County’s engineering division, HyperFiber has already begun connecting its service to homes in Port Charlotte, with installation expected to continue throughout the spring and summer. The company has secured permits for six months of ongoing construction to accommodate service requests from homeowners.
HyperFiber prides itself on investing its own resources to install fiber-optic cables, offering 100% fiber-optic internet with speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (1,000 megabits per second), and ensuring reliability without the outages common to other services.
The company’s vision is to establish a “hyper-connected city” in Port Charlotte, providing residents with a range of high-speed, quality internet services for improved work, entertainment, and overall connectivity.
Previously, Punta Gorda was among the first cities in Florida to receive HyperFiber service, with over 10,000 homes now connected. The company also has a presence in Collier County.
During the rollout in Punta Gorda, there were challenges, including damage to utility lines, swales, and water mains during cable installation. HyperFiber promptly formed a team to address these issues, reimbursing the city for damages incurred.
HyperFiber’s connection is described as symmetrical, ensuring equal upload and download speeds for a seamless internet experience. Customers can choose from three plans—1 Gig, 500 Mbps, or 250 Mbps—with the option for a “1 Gig for Life” plan at a guaranteed rate for qualifying customers.
The pricing structure is transparent, with monthly costs ranging from $65 to $85, depending on the selected plan. There are no contracts, equipment fees, installation charges, or data caps.
Scott Jackson, director of direct sales and field operations, expressed the company’s commitment to providing outstanding internet service to the Port Charlotte community, emphasizing simplicity, reliability, and local customer support.
