A man from Spring Valley, Loren Adam Sarazin, was sentenced to 105 months, or about 8.75 years, at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud on Thursday. He had pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving coercion.
Sarazin, 37, entered what’s known as an Alford plea, which means he maintains his innocence but acknowledges there’s enough evidence to convict him. He received credit for the 360 days he had already spent in the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center since his arrest in May 2023.
Court documents reveal that Sarazin was a patient at Oakridge Treatment Center when he allegedly trapped a staff member in his room and attempted to sexually assault her.
As part of the plea agreement, three other charges against Sarazin were dismissed. These included felony indecent exposure while restricting another person’s freedom, felony false imprisonment with intentional restraint, and gross misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Sarazin is required to register as a predatory offender for 10 years and will be on probation for another 10 years after he’s released from prison, according to Minnesota court records.
