Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra forced to move out of $20M mansion due to mold infestation amid lawsuit over property

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are facing a legal ordeal as their Californian dream home turns into a nightmare due to water damage leading to mold infestation, Page Six has exclusively learned. The couple purchased the luxurious property in September 2019 for $20 million, featuring seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and extravagant amenities like a chef’s kitchen, indoor basketball court, and more.

Issues with the pool and spa arose in April 2020, including “porous waterproofing” causing mold contamination. A water leak from the deck’s barbecue area further damaged the interior living space below, rendering the home nearly uninhabitable and posing health risks.

The lawsuit, filed in May 2023, seeks to rescind the purchase and sale due to substantial damage, claiming the property is “virtually unlivable.” Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, through their trustee, are pursuing consequential damages or reimbursement for repair costs, loss of use, and other damages caused by the alleged defects. Estimated costs for waterproofing issues exceed $1.5 million, with general damages around $2.5 million.

Lawyer Fred Fenster, representing the trustee, explains that legal proceedings involve various parties suing one another, causing delays in determining responsibility for the defects. Despite ongoing construction to address the issues, Jonas and Chopra have reportedly moved to another property with their 2-year-old daughter, Malti.

While the lawsuit continues, public records show an agreement between the trustee and the home’s lender in August 2023. However, Fenster clarifies that this is standard procedure to secure the loan and does not indicate financial issues for the celebrity couple. The maximum principal obligation is $1.5 million, with a maturity date of Aug. 2, 2053.

Fenster anticipates a trial date in 2025, but Jonas and Chopra are free to move back into the property despite the ongoing legal battle. A source close to the couple stated that they are disappointed with the building errors, have invested significantly in repairs, and expect the house to be in perfect condition shortly.
