Kandi Burruss announces departure from ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ citing the need for a break.

Kandi Burruss has decided to step away from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” a Bravo reality series she’s been a part of since 2009. The announcement came during an interview with editor Marc Malkin at the Grammys on Sunday for Variety’s On the Carpet.

In her statement, Burruss shared, “I’m not coming back this year. It’s been 14 seasons, and they allowed us to sit around for a little too long, but during that time, I had started working on a lot of other things, and I got some nice big projects coming soon, so I’m super excited about those things.”

Explaining her decision, she mentioned a conversation with a friend who questioned why she continued with the show. Reflecting on it, Burruss said, “It’s just like, after you really have time to think… I’m not coming back this year.”

After a relatively subdued Season 15 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Bravo hinted at a potential cast overhaul. While it won’t be a full reboot, a few key cast members are likely to return, and the network is expected to announce the revamped cast soon.

Kandi Burruss, the longest-serving cast member on “RHOA,” is not just a reality TV star but also a singer, songwriter, and founding member of Xscape. Her songwriting credits include hits like TLC’s “No Scrubs” and Destiny’s Child’s “Bills, Bills, Bills.”

Apart from her reality TV endeavors, Burruss has successfully launched Atlanta restaurants and the sex toy company Bedroom Kandi. In November, she was honored at Variety’s Women in Reality event, where she recalled facing challenging times on the show, notably when a fellow castmate spread a damaging rumor about her and her husband Todd Tucker.
