Savannah Guthrie, one of the faces of NBC’s Today show, recently shared her thoughts on the backstage dressing rooms during an interview at her book release party for “Mostly What God Does.” Guthrie humorously remarked that the rooms could use a makeover, suggesting they needed an “Extreme Makeover: Today Show Dressing Room Edition.”
She elaborated, noting that while the studio, Studio 1A, holds historical significance and is iconic, it’s also showing its age. Despite its charm, Guthrie acknowledged the occasional peeling paint and signs of wear and tear. Nevertheless, she emphasized the team’s efforts to ensure guests feel welcomed and valued during their time on the show.
The dressing room issue came into focus following reports of an incident involving Kelly Rowland, who allegedly left the set due to dissatisfaction with her dressing room. In response, Hoda Kotb, Guthrie’s colleague, offered to share her dressing room with Rowland, expressing her admiration for her.
Rowland’s representative later praised her character, highlighting her kindness and amiable nature, which they had witnessed over the years.
During the interview, Guthrie expressed gratitude for her Today show colleagues, particularly Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb, for their support during the launch of her book. She credited Hager with inspiring and encouraging her writing, while Kotb served as a motivating force, encouraging her to persevere.
