Rapper YFN Lucci pleads guilty to gang charge in Fulton County

Rapper YFN Lucci, also known as Rashawn Bennett, has entered a guilty plea in connection with his arrest in 2021 on charges related to alleged gang activity in Fulton County, Georgia.

The arrest was part of a larger indictment involving 12 individuals associated with subgroups of the national Bloods gang. The comprehensive 105-count indictment resulted from a six-month investigation, accusing Lucci and others of various crimes aimed at preserving and elevating the gang’s reputation and securing territorial control.

Originally facing charges such as racketeering, violating anti-gang laws, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a felony, Lucci has now pleaded guilty to one count of violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. The felony murder charge is linked to his alleged role as the driver in a December 2020 gang-related drive-by shooting that resulted in a fatality.

Under the terms of the plea deal, YFN Lucci could be sentenced to 20 years in prison with credit for time served. Additionally, he is prohibited from having any contact with co-defendants or individuals associated with criminal street gangs. In return, the state has agreed not to oppose Lucci’s eligibility for parole.

The indictment highlighted that one of the Atlanta gang sub-groups of the Bloods, referred to as YFN, was “centered around” Bennett. The YFN studio on West Peachtree Street in Atlanta was noted as a significant hub for the group. The approval of the plea deal is subject to a Fulton County judge’s decision, who holds the authority to accept or reject the prosecution’s recommended sentence.

YFN Lucci gained prominence for hits like the 2016 song “Key to the Streets,” featuring the Atlanta rap group Migos.
