During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night, Emily Blunt shared a rather amusing incident involving her Oppenheimer co-star, Cillian Murphy. Blunt recounted how Murphy ended up injuring himself while trying to adjust a pillow she had given him to help with his sleep during the filming of the movie.
Blunt, along with Murphy and Robert Downey Jr., were guests on the show when she shared the story. She explained that she had thought Murphy needed a good night’s sleep, so she gifted him a luxurious Hästens pillow.
However, things took an unexpected turn when Murphy, in the middle of the night, attempted to fluff the pillow and ended up hitting his head on the bedside table. This resulted in Murphy needing to have his head glued shut.
Murphy himself chimed in, expressing his surprise at the incident. He described how he was enjoying a comfortable sleep with the pillow before the mishap occurred. After the accident, he promptly called the movie’s makeup artist, Luisa Abel, for assistance in treating the wound.
Despite the early call time for filming, Abel managed to effectively treat Murphy’s injury, ensuring that it didn’t affect his appearance in the movie.
The incident, though humorous in hindsight, provided a light-hearted moment during the interview, showcasing the camaraderie among the cast members. It also serves as a reminder of the unexpected challenges that can arise during the filming process, even from something as seemingly innocuous as adjusting a pillow.
