Imran Khan Urges Expedited Hearings Amid Accusations Against Chief Justice
In a recent development reported by The Express Tribune, Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has accused Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa of bias against his party. Khan, currently in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, implored the courts to hasten the hearings of his cases, decrying what he termed as unjustified delays.
Expressing his discontent, Khan asserted, “I urge all judges presiding over my cases to expedite the hearings and refrain from unjustified delays.” He vehemently denounced the delays in court decisions, labeling them as unjust, and dismissed all charges against him as false and concocted.
Drawing attention to CJP Isa’s statement, Khan remarked, “He stated that there is no pressure on him, but pressure comes to those who refuse to indulge in wrongdoing. You are behaving like [government’s] B-team against PTI.”
Khan highlighted grievances regarding the handling of PTI’s petitions concerning alleged electoral malpractices and the issue of reserved seats for women. He criticized the judicial system for what he perceived as coerced decisions and emphasized the need for Supreme Court judges to reject erroneous rulings.
Expressing willingness to engage in dialogue, Khan stressed that such talks could only proceed upon the restitution of what he called the “stolen mandate” and the release of incarcerated PTI workers.
Meanwhile, former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry’s recent remarks, as reported by Geo News, suggest a potential shift in dynamics, hinting at a political realignment that could see Imran Khan ceding power to Shehbaz Sharif in exchange for support from the establishment. These speculations come amidst ongoing discussions within PTI regarding engagement with military and intelligence officials, bypassing what they term as “rejected individuals” in the political arena.
