Over the weekend, Texas faced some intense weather, with severe storms and heavy rainfall wreaking havoc, especially in the Fort Worth area. Tragically, amidst the chaos, a 4-year-old boy named Lucas Warren lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters. It’s heart-wrenching to hear that he was found dead after a vehicle he was in got stuck in swift water, prompting a desperate attempt to reach dry ground. While both adults were rescued and taken to the hospital, Lucas didn’t make it.
It’s devastating news, and my heart goes out to Lucas’s family. They’ve set up a GoFundMe page to support them during this unimaginably difficult time, and it’s heartening to see the community rallying around them, with over $23,000 raised so far.
Elsewhere in the state, particularly in Harris County, which includes Houston, the situation wasn’t any less dire. Hundreds had to be rescued from homes and vehicles due to the flooding. Thankfully, there were no reported deaths or serious injuries there, but the impact of the severe weather is still significant.
Looking ahead, Texas isn’t out of the woods yet. More severe weather is predicted, especially around the Dallas/Fort Worth area, with the possibility of isolated storms bringing large hail and damaging winds. Even in Houston, there’s a chance of isolated storms, though conditions are expected to dry up and temperatures rise before a cold front hits later in the week. And in San Angelo, while there’s only a small chance of storms, they could still pose a threat, potentially reaching severe levels with hail and strong winds. It’s a reminder to stay vigilant and prepared during these unpredictable times.
