During the May 4 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” JoJo Siwa’s recent transformation became the subject of a skit, and the former “Dance Moms” star is taking it all in good humor.
Chloe Fineman portrayed Siwa on the Weekend Update segment, perfectly mimicking her black sparkly outfit, face paint, signature hairstyle, and dance moves from her latest music video. With a wide grin, Fineman, in character, proclaimed, “That’s right, Colin, I’m a bad girl now,” while flashing rock on hand symbols.
In Siwa’s voice, Fineman explained to Colin Jost that her new look signifies a significant change, saying, “I used to be rainbow sparkles, and now, I’m black sparkles. I look like if a figure skater joined a street gang.” She humorously added that she’s currently in her “bad girl era.”
The sketch also touched on Siwa’s recent viral comments about wanting to create a new genre of music called “gay pop,” which raised some eyebrows in the LGBTQ+ community. Jost joked about the concept, to which Fineman’s Siwa responded, “That’s right — gay pop.”
The skit poked fun at Siwa’s recent appearance at the iHeart Radio Music Awards, where she first debuted her edgy new look, and her subsequent release of the song “Karma” along with its dramatic music video.
Siwa, known for her beginnings on “Dance Moms,” recently reunited with the former dancers and their moms on a Lifetime special, five years after the show’s conclusion in 2019.
