“Spider-Man:
Across the Spider-Verse” nearly included a playful nod to a glitch from Insomniac’s “Miles Morales” game, showcasing a fun connection between the animated film and the video game realm.
In a recent episode of Sony’s Creator to Creator series, the teams behind the movie and the game shared insights into their Spider-Man projects. Director Joaquim Dos Santos mentioned how some crew members were multitasking by playing the game while working on the film. Dos Santos revealed, “We almost put one of your guys’ glitches that made it into… Like, we almost put a heater, like a space heater, swinging through.”
Acknowledging the glitch’s origin from “Miles Morales,” Bryan Intihar, senior creative director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, humorously chimed in, mentioning the infamous Spider-Cube bug from the upcoming game. “Well, there’s a cube one in this game, so we fixed that,” he joked.
Dos Santos praised the dedication of the crew member who suggested the glitch inclusion, calling it “true love” for the game. The glitch in question, dubbed “Spider-Lamp,” gained popularity on social media in 2020, adding a humorous touch to the game experience.

While “Spider-Lamp” didn’t make it into “Across the Spider-Verse,” it was considered at one point, with producer Phil Lord even joking about its potential inclusion. However, with the movie already packed with references, there might not have been enough space for the glitch cameo.
Equally as embarrassing as it is heart-warming https://t.co/LV0xGri7hD

As fans anticipate the third film, “Beyond the Spider-Verse,” there’s potential for glitches from “Spider-Man 2” or other Marvel games to make their way into future projects. With Insomniac also working on new content like New Game Plus for “Spider-Man 2,” the possibilities for fun crossovers continue to expand.
