Jay Leno provided an update on his wife Mavis’s health after her dementia diagnosis and subsequent conservatorship. The former “Tonight Show” host and his wife, who have been married for almost 44 years, appeared joyful as they attended the premiere of Netflix’s “Unfrosted” in Hollywood.
During their red carpet appearance, Mavis, 77, expressed feeling great, while Leno, 74, emphasized the importance of enjoying a fun event amidst controversies. He mentioned their enduring relationship, highlighting their daily enjoyment and 44 years of togetherness.
Despite celebrating his 74th birthday recently, Leno stated that he and Mavis aren’t big on birthdays and find fulfillment in each other’s company. Reflecting on life, he described each day as a party and emphasized their contentment with one another.
At the premiere, the couple posed for photos alongside the film’s director and star, Jerry Seinfeld, and his wife Jessica. This outing came after Leno was granted conservatorship over Mavis due to her advanced dementia diagnosis.
During the court hearing, Mavis’s lawyer confirmed her agreement with the conservatorship, stating that she receives excellent care from her husband. The judge acknowledged Leno’s efforts and affirmed his fitness for the role, expressing understanding for the challenging period they are going through.
Previously, Leno had briefly discussed his wife’s ongoing battle with dementia earlier this year.
