MIAMI (AP) — Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, has been selected as a Florida delegate to the Republican National Convention, according to the state’s party chairman on Wednesday.
Evan Power, the chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, said that Barron, an 18-year-old high school senior, will be among the 41 at-large delegates representing Florida at the national convention, where the GOP is expected to officially nominate his father as its presidential candidate for the general election in November. The news about Barron’s selection was initially reported by NBC News.
Despite generally staying out of the spotlight, Barron Trump turned 18 in March and is set to graduate from high school next week. The judge presiding over Donald Trump’s hush money case in New York indicated that there would be no court session on May 17 to allow Trump to attend his son’s graduation ceremony.
Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Tiffany Trump, the former president’s other children, are also part of the Florida delegation for the convention, which will be held in Milwaukee from July 15 to July 18.
“We’re lucky to have a fantastic group of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and Trump family members joining us as part of the Florida delegation at the 2024 Republican National Convention,” Power said in an email statement.
