Since Bill Belichick left the Patriots, rumors about his strained relationship with team owner Robert Kraft have been circulating. There have been stories about lingering bad blood between them following Belichick’s departure, but on Sunday, the two seemed to get along just fine at a roast for Tom Brady in Los Angeles.
An ESPN report suggested that when Belichick was seeking the Falcons’ head coaching job, Kraft allegedly told Falcons owner Arthur Blank not to trust Belichick—an allegation the Patriots denied. Additionally, several former Patriots players criticized the miniseries “The Dynasty” for downplaying Belichick’s role in the team’s success. Yet on Sunday, these issues seemed far from everyone’s minds.
During the roast, Kraft joked about reunions and how there’s always someone you’d rather not see, then invited Belichick to join him for a shot, emphasizing the remarkable achievements he and Brady brought to the Patriots. “I want to say this is the greatest coach in the history of the game,” Kraft said during the Netflix broadcast. “Having Tom Brady and him was the greatest honor the good Lord gave me.”
Belichick and Brady shared a shot during the event, which featured a series of jabs and jokes aimed at the legendary quarterback.
