Blizzard’s upcoming overhaul of loot in Diablo 4’s season 4 might just be the beginning of more significant changes to the action-RPG’s systems.
The overhaul, set to introduce sweeping changes to itemization, aims to prioritize quality over quantity and streamline the process of building characters. While season 4 will bring some seasonal content, the bulk of the update will impact all characters, offering an opportunity for players to explore new builds.
The scale of this loot overhaul is evident from Blizzard’s decision to introduce Diablo 4’s first public test realm, allowing players to test the changes before they are implemented in the full game. Lead producer Tim Ismay revealed to GamesRadar+ that Blizzard is considering additional system reworks of similar magnitude.
“We are actively discussing, if not directly working on, additional systems we want to add to the game in the future, which we think will make it an even more robust experience, similar in scope to what we’ve been doing for Season 4 with itemization,” he said. “We’re very open to revisiting other parts of the game in the same way.”
While Ismay did not provide specific details about these potential changes, itemization was a significant concern among the community, alongside issues such as loadouts, dungeon design, and endgame content. The future of Diablo 4 holds the promise of further enhancements, with players eagerly awaiting what comes next.
