But for How Long? Law & Order: SVU Lures Rollins Back

Rollins, enough with the normie life. If this week’s Law & Order: SVU proves anything, it’s that you belong back at the zoo with the rest of us big-hearted, if maladjusted, herd.

Kelli Giddish’s latest appearance as Det. Amanda Rollins finds her slipping a bit too comfortably into her old job. Could this episode be a glimpse of what’s to come next season? By the end, things are left hanging in the air. But I have to admit, I loved all those glimpses into Carisi and Rollins’ life away from the precinct.

Let’s dive into Episode 11, “Prima Nocta.”

The episode kicks off with a humorous prank by Rollins on Carisi, delighting her daughters. As Carisi prepares for work, they share a moment where Rollins reveals she’s recently unemployed. However, Carisi suggests she join the district attorney’s office as an investigator, teasing about working together all day and all night. Their sweet moment is interrupted when Capt. Benson invites Rollins to lunch, setting the stage for the day’s events.

Jenna, a bride, seeks help from SVU after locking herself in a room at her wedding. She reveals she was raped the night before, sparking a complex investigation. Rollins and Benson dive into the case, uncovering disturbing parallels with past assaults. Despite Rollins’ unofficial status, the squad enlists her help, leading to tense confrontations and emotional breakthroughs.

As the investigation unfolds, Rollins finds herself drawn back into the action, proving she hasn’t lost her touch. With the support of her former colleagues, she helps bring the perpetrator to justice, showcasing her invaluable skills as a detective.

The episode ends with Rollins reflecting on her future, realizing she needs to find her true calling. Benson encourages her to explore her options and pursue what makes her happy, signaling a potential shift in Rollins’ career trajectory.

Overall, “Prima Nocta” delivers a gripping storyline with compelling character dynamics, leaving fans eager to see what’s next for Rollins and the SVU team.

And yes, Jennifer Love Hewitt singing “Islands in the Stream” during the 9-1-1 wedding was truly a delightful surprise.
