Catherine O’Hara, famous for her role as Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek, is stepping into a new realm by joining The Last of Us season 2. HBO confirmed her casting in an undisclosed role, adding an intriguing twist to the series.
The news came after O’Hara hinted at her involvement during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. Confirming that she was in talks for a part, O’Hara mentioned that her son works as a set dresser on the show.
While specifics about O’Hara’s character remain a mystery, it’s speculated that she’ll play a new character created for the HBO adaptation.
She’ll be joining Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, and Young Mazino in the cast. Pascal and Ramsey reprise their roles, while Dever portrays Abby, Merced plays Dina, and Mazino takes on the role of Jesse.
Known for her comedic talents, O’Hara’s move into the dramatic world of The Last of Us is a significant departure. However, she’s no stranger to HBO, having appeared in Six Feet Under as Carol Ward.
Production for The Last of Us season 2 begins this month in Canada, with a planned premiere in 2025 on HBO. Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are tasked with adapting the acclaimed video game’s events for the screen.
