Responding to a caller’s question, Charli XCX mentioned that the news had leaked to the press, prompting Spears to address it on social media by stating, “I don’t have random people write for me.” Charli XCX expressed doubt about whether Spears was genuinely part of the songwriting process.
Host Andy Cohen suggested that perhaps Spears’ team was exploring options, to which Charli XCX added that Spears’ team might have been eager to move forward quickly. She speculated that Spears likely had other projects on her plate. Despite being asked to contribute, Charli XCX wasn’t certain about the project’s reality.
When asked if she had written songs with the hope of Spears recording them, Charli XCX confirmed that she had indeed written songs, hoping for the opportunity, but acknowledged that Spears didn’t end up recording them. She expressed admiration for Spears and described the opportunity to work with her as a dream come true.
