Oliver Hudson recently opened up about his harrowing experience trying to taper off his anxiety medication on the latest episode of the sibling podcast “Sibling Revelry,” which he hosted solo this time. In a candid conversation with anxiety specialist Drew Linsalata, the 47-year-old actor shared the intense withdrawal symptoms he faced when attempting to wean off Celexa, an antidepressant he had been taking for anxiety, around “three or four years ago.”
Reflecting on a particularly challenging moment during his time on the show “Nashville,” Hudson recounted a sudden and overwhelming panic attack that left him in tears. Despite his efforts to taper off the medication gradually, he found himself grappling with debilitating withdrawal symptoms, including complete dissociation and intense emotional distress.
Linsalata empathized with Hudson’s experience, sharing his own struggles with withdrawal when discontinuing medication. He vividly described the emotional turmoil he endured, emphasizing the profound difficulty of adjusting to life without the medication.
Acknowledging that withdrawal experiences vary from person to person, Linsalata underscored the importance of seeking professional guidance and support throughout the process.
Hudson revealed that his determination to provide for his family ultimately led him to resume medication, despite the challenges he faced. He candidly admitted that the withdrawal period was incredibly difficult, but his commitment to supporting his family motivated him to persevere.
Throughout the podcast, Hudson also expressed his appreciation for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), describing it as a transformative experience that significantly impacted his life.
Hudson, who is married to actress Erinn Bartlett, is the proud father of sons Wilder and Bodhi, as well as a daughter named Rio.
