Tragically, Dex Carvey, the eldest son of Dana Carvey, renowned “Saturday Night Live” alum and star of “Wayne’s World,” passed away at the age of 32 due to an accidental drug overdose, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.
According to the report, Dex Carvey ingested a combination of fentanyl, ketamine, and cocaine, leading to his untimely death on November 15, 2023.
In a heartfelt statement released by Dana Carvey and his wife Paula Zwagerman, they described Dex as someone “extremely talented at so many things — music, art, filmmaking, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately.”
The couple extended their sympathies to anyone grappling with addiction, emphasizing that they were in their hearts and prayers.
Three days after Dex’s passing, Dana Carvey took to social media to announce a break, expressing the need to figure out what life looks like for their family of three now. He shared that the outpouring of personal stories, compassion, and love from people overwhelmed them. Dana Carvey stated that his family would heal as best as they could, carrying on as Dex would have wanted.
Dex Carvey, a comedian in his own right, collaborated with his father on stand-up shows and made appearances in TV series such as “Beyond the Comics,” “Carpool Pandering,” and “The Funster,” as per IMBD.
Dana Carvey and Paula Zwagerman have another son, 30-year-old Thomas Carvey.
