Elle King has decided to postpone her upcoming show in Fort Worth, Texas, scheduled for this Friday. This would have been her first performance since the controversial Dolly Parton tribute at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on Jan. 19.
During that event, King openly admitted to being “hammered,” displaying slurred speech, forgetting lyrics, and using profanity on stage – a breach of the Opry’s traditional decorum.
The Billy Bob’s Texas venue made the announcement on social media, revealing the rescheduled date as Sept. 21, a delay of eight months. The venue assured fans that original tickets would be valid for the new date, with refunds available for those who preferred. Unfortunately, specific details were not provided.
In response to the Jan. 19 incident, the Grand Ole Opry issued an apology on social media, expressing regret for the language used during King’s performance. They deemed it unfortunate for such an incident to occur during her first appearance at the iconic venue.
Elle King also faced challenges during her New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash performance. Before singing “Drunk (And I Don’t Want to Go Home),” she commented, “It’s okay, I live what I sing, y’all,” and appeared to slur her words during the performance.
As of now, Elle King has not commented on her future plans. Despite the rescheduled show in September, she still has upcoming performances scheduled from next month extending into October.
