During a recent appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” (via People), Emily Blunt opened up about the challenges of building chemistry with certain co-stars on set. Throughout her career, Blunt has worked alongside a slew of high-profile leading men, including Matt Damon, Tom Cruise, Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Gosling, and Cillian Murphy.
When Stern asked Blunt if she ever felt like throwing up while kissing some of her male co-stars during filming, she didn’t hesitate to admit, “Absolutely. Absolutely.” She clarified that while it wasn’t extreme loathing, there were certainly instances where she didn’t enjoy the experience.
While Blunt chose not to name specific co-stars, she did acknowledge that she has had chemistry with people she didn’t necessarily enjoy working with. “Chemistry is this strange thing,” she mused. “It’s an ethereal thing that you can’t really bottle up and buy or sell. It’s like there or it’s not.”
Despite the challenges, Blunt has developed a method for finding common ground with her co-stars. “I’ve got to find something I love about everybody,” she explained. “Even if it’s one thing… find something you love about that person or something you love about them as the character and then kind of lean into that.”
Blunt’s stellar acting chops have earned her critical acclaim, including an Oscar nomination for her role in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” Currently, she can be seen on the big screen in Universal Pictures’ action romance “The Fall Guy,” opposite Ryan Gosling.
