Hisense’s new 5,000 nits mini-LED TV is so bright you may need to wear shades

Hisense made waves at CES 2024 by unveiling four distinct series of mini-LED TVs, headlined by the impressive 110-inch model known as the 110UX. This behemoth belongs to the top-tier ULED X series, which also includes a smaller 98-inch variant.

While anticipation was high for the release of the Hisense U8N, the successor to the acclaimed U8K and a mid-range contender in the TV market, the introduction of the Hisense U9N series came as a pleasant surprise.

Positioned between the flagship ULED X series and the U8N lineup, the U9N series offers premium features at a more affordable price point. These features include the Hi-View Engine X picture processing and a mini-LED backlight boasting up to 5,300 local dimming zones, delivering exceptional brightness of 5,000 nits.

Similar to the U8N series, the U9N TVs utilize a quantum dot LCD panel and support Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ, and HDR10+ for stunning high dynamic range content. Additional picture enhancements include IMAX Enhanced and Filmmaker Mode presets, an anti-glare screen, and an ultra-wide viewing angle feature to enhance off-center viewing.

In terms of audio capabilities, the U9N series boasts a built-in 4.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos audio system with up to 82W of power. For smart features, these TVs come equipped with the Google TV platform, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, and a built-in ATSC 3.0 tuner for accessing next-gen digital TV channels.

Gaming enthusiasts will appreciate features like the 144Hz native refresh rate for PC gaming, VRR with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, Dolby Vision gaming, Auto Game Mode, and a customizable Game Bar feature.

The Hisense U9N series is set to launch on BestBuy.com this summer, with prices starting at $2,999 for the 75-inch model and $3,999 for the 85-inch model.

With its impressive peak brightness of 5,000 nits, the U9N series offers advantages for both movie viewing and daytime use, outperforming competitors like Samsung’s QN90D and QN900D models in terms of brightness. Priced competitively against premium offerings from other brands, the Hisense U9N series is poised to shake up the TV market and set new standards for brightness and affordability.
