U.S. Officials Engage in Talks with Jordanian Leaders on Gaza Aid and Regional Issues
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin held discussions with King Abdullah of Jordan, while Secretary of State Antony Blinken engaged with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. Blinken expressed gratitude for Jordan’s pivotal role in delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
Blinken condemned recent violent attacks on aid convoys from Jordan to Gaza, stressing the importance of Israel preventing such assaults and holding perpetrators accountable. He also denounced Hamas’ efforts to seize aid within Gaza.
Blinken and Safadi explored avenues for an immediate ceasefire and discussed ongoing efforts to prevent the escalation of conflict.
Meanwhile, Austin reiterated U.S. commitment to Middle Eastern stability and commended Jordan for its humanitarian efforts in Gaza during his meeting with King Abdullah.
