Exciting news hit the internet as the challenge to recreate ULA’s Vulcan Centaur rocket in the Kerbal universe wrapped up, and the results are finally in!
In a surprising collaboration, the team behind the popular spaceflight simulation game Kerbal Space Program (KSP) teamed up with real-life rocket company United Launch Alliance (ULA) to spark creativity and engagement among gamers.
With both KSP and ULA recently hitting major milestones – the release of an early-access version of KSP 2 and ULA’s successful launch of the Vulcan Centaur rocket – the timing was perfect for this unique challenge.
Players from all over jumped at the chance to showcase their rocket-building skills by recreating ULA’s Vulcan Centaur rocket in the virtual world of Kerbal Space Program. The entries poured in, each one showcasing its own creative flair and ingenuity.
After much anticipation, the winner was announced: X user The Space Peacock (@Space_Peacock) wowed judges with their nearly spot-on recreation of the Vulcan rocket, complete with simulated missions and cool features.
But the creativity didn’t stop there – two runners-up, X user Albert Hajek (@albert_hajek) and YouTube channel PicoSpace Industries (@picospace), also impressed with their unique interpretations of the Vulcan Centaur rocket.
In an interview, ULA CEO Tory Bruno applauded all three entries, praising the passion and innovation shown by the gaming community.
The collaboration between KSP and ULA highlights the exciting intersection of education and entertainment in STEM fields, with both organizations dedicated to inspiring and educating future generations of rocket scientists.
Looking ahead, KSP 2 is set to introduce exciting new features, while ULA continues to push the boundaries of space exploration with its Vulcan rocket.
As the gaming and aerospace industries evolve, collaborations like this serve as a reminder of the power of imagination and innovation to inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts.
