Samsung has rolled out the May 2024 security update for the Galaxy S24 series across European countries, following its recent release in the US. The update, identified by the firmware version S92xBXXS2AXD6, varies in size, with approximately 300MB for the Galaxy S24 and S24+ and over 400MB for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
This update addresses 45 security vulnerabilities detected in previous software versions, ensuring enhanced device security. However, it does not introduce any new features or performance enhancements.
Having debuted earlier this year with Android 14-based One UI 6.1, the Galaxy S24 series commits to providing seven major Android OS updates along with regular security patches. It is anticipated that these devices will continue receiving monthly security updates for at least the next three years.
Looking ahead, the Galaxy S24 series is poised for the upcoming major software update, likely to be Android 15-based One UI 7.0. Samsung has initiated internal beta development for Android 15, and the One UI 7.0 Beta Program is anticipated to commence in the third quarter of this year. Typically, the stable version of Android 15 is anticipated to be available by the end of Q3 2024 or early Q4 2024.
