In the lead-up to Victory Day celebrations, Russia has unveiled an open-air exhibition in Victory Park, showcasing military hardware captured in Ukraine. The display features around 30 tanks and armored vehicles, sourced from various countries including the US, UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Australia, and South Africa.
The exhibition, which kicked off on Wednesday in Moscow, is set to run for a month. It’s quite a spectacle, with Russian state TV airing footage of heavy trucks transporting these vehicles and cranes carefully placing them in Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill.
The event is being portrayed as a celebration of Russia’s victories against Ukrainian forces and their Western supporters. Signs at the exhibition boldly proclaim “Our victory is inevitable!”
Among the highlights is a German Leopard 2 tank, which reportedly sustained damage from an anti-tank mine during a skirmish near Berdychi in Ukraine. The display also includes notable pieces like the US-made M1 Abrams tank and Bradley armored vehicle, a Marder infantry vehicle from Germany, and a French AMX-10RC.
Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin, has praised the exhibition as a “brilliant idea.”
