A major shakeup has occurred in the cast of Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday” as a lead star has been dropped from the show ahead of its second season.
The announcement of the cast list for the upcoming season, which began filming, came on Tuesday (May 7th). While Jenna Ortega is set to reprise her role as the titular character following her surprising departure from another Netflix project, fans were quick to notice the absence of Percy Hynes White from the list. Hynes White portrayed the psychic student Xavier Thorpe in the show’s first season and was considered a significant player in the series.
The decision to drop Hynes White from the cast follows allegations of sexual misconduct that surfaced last year, which the actor vehemently denied. In January 2023, several now-deleted tweets accused Hynes White of engaging in alleged sexual activities with multiple women. While he denied the accusations, some “Wednesday” fans called for his removal from the show.
Joining Ortega in the second season will be Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman, who portray Morticia and Gomez Addams, respectively. New additions to the cast include Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor.
The fate of Hynes White’s character remains uncertain, with questions arising whether the role will be recast or written out of the series entirely.
Addressing the accusations against him in a June 2023 Instagram post, Hynes White denied the allegations and expressed distress over the impact they had on his personal life and relationships.
The cast of “Wednesday” continues to expand with an impressive lineup of guest stars, including Christopher Lloyd, Haley Joel Osment, Joanna Lumley, Frances O’Connor, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo.
As filming for the highly anticipated second season progresses, fans eagerly await further developments and the eventual return of the beloved characters to their screens.
