Good news emerged from Clovis, Mexico, as authorities announced the safe recovery of an infant girl who had been abducted from a local park. The FBI in Albuquerque confirmed the positive development on Monday, also mentioning the apprehension of a suspect in connection with the case. Ten-month-old Eleia Maria Torres is now under medical care at a Clovis-area hospital, a precautionary measure following her ordeal.
The incident had prompted an Amber Alert late Friday, raising concerns across the community. Tragically, the discovery of two deceased women, Samantha Cisneros and Taryn Allen, both 23 years old and from Texico, New Mexico, along with a critically injured 5-year-old girl, intensified the urgency of the situation. Cisneros was identified as the mother of both the abducted infant and the hospitalized 5-year-old.
Details regarding the circumstances of the incident are still emerging. Authorities disclosed that at least one of the women was fatally shot, while the 5-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The identities of the deceased women were confirmed, but the name of the injured 5-year-old has not been released.
Initial reports suggested that a witness in the park had heard what they believed to be gunshots, although the incident was not immediately reported to law enforcement. The fathers of the girls are cooperating with the investigation and are not considered suspects in the double homicide case, according to New Mexico State Police.
The scene at the park, located about 5 miles north of Clovis, revealed the women’s belongings near their bodies, along with a silver Dodge minivan registered to one of the victims. Additionally, items such as an infant car seat, a stroller, and a baby bottle were discovered nearby, prompting an immediate search for the abducted infant.
The initial Amber Alert described the suspect as possibly driving a maroon Honda car. Law enforcement, including the FBI and Clovis police, urged the public to provide any tips or leads, emphasizing the importance of even the smallest details. FBI Special Agent Raul Bujanda condemned the violence, describing it as “horrific acts.”
Clovis, situated in eastern New Mexico near the Texas border, is now relieved at the safe recovery of the abducted infant, though the community remains shaken by the tragic events that unfolded in their midst.
