Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, who’s well-known for his own fiery demeanor on the court, had some advice for Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley following Thursday night’s controversial incidents. During his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” Green urged Beverley to get his act together after he caused a stir in Milwaukee’s season-ending 120-98 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
“Pat, you can’t keep having these moments, man, at the end of these losses,” Green remarked. “You’re starting to look like that kid who takes the ball and goes home because he’s losing. It’s like, ‘I’m leaving the park; it’s my ball, so I’m out.’”
Beverley’s behavior caused a stir when he threw a basketball into the crowd behind Milwaukee’s bench—not once, but twice. Green warned that this kind of behavior could lead to serious consequences. “It opens up an entirely different can of worms,” he said. “[NBA Commissioner] Adam [Silver] is going to have a problem on his hands with this one. It’s about as close as you can get to going in the stands, and that is forbidden for us.”
If that weren’t enough, Beverley compounded the issue in the locker room. He refused to answer a reporter’s question because she didn’t subscribe to his podcast, asking her to leave the scrum around his locker. Green expressed his disapproval of this kind of behavior, noting that he takes the opposite approach and appreciates the NBA’s support for podcasts. “I actually try to take the complete opposite approach because I am very appreciative of the NBA supporting podcasts the way they do,” he said.
Beverley, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent, could face a suspension at the start of the next season if he signs with another NBA team. Given his recent actions, the league may take disciplinary action for his behavior on and off the court.
