Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs doubles down on his Super Bowl three-peat aspirations: “We’re gonna do it again.”

Patrick Mahomes has already secured three Super Bowl titles and three Super Bowl MVP awards, earning him the reputation as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. As the leader of the Kansas City Chiefs, he’s got his sights set on adding another championship to his collection.

In a recent chat with Logan Paul on the “Impaulsive” podcast, Mahomes confidently stated that the Chiefs are set to make another Super Bowl run next season. “Next year in New Orleans, we’re going to do it again,” Mahomes said. “Mark my words, we’re going to do it again. I’m calling it now.”

Mahomes also talked about the famous “Corndog” play that helped the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime at the 2024 Super Bowl. They also used a version of that play in 2023 to secure a Super Bowl win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“That play was awesome,” Mahomes mentioned. “The touchdown wasn’t supposed to go to the player who caught it, but we used ‘Corndog’ against the Eagles and scored. It sealed the game. We were planning a different version with a shovel pass, but it was wide open again.”

Back in February, Mahomes expressed his confidence in the Chiefs’ potential for a three-peat.

The Chiefs recently locked down Mahomes’ go-to target, Travis Kelce, with a contract extension, strengthening their chances for another Super Bowl run. Kelce, who will turn 35 just after the 2024 NFL season begins, had his first season with fewer than 1,000 receiving yards in seven years. However, he remains one of the most reliable tight ends in the league.

Kelce’s new deal makes him the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL, keeping him with the franchise through the 2027 season. By then, he’ll be 38 years old. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach is optimistic about Kelce’s longevity.

“Sometimes you come across these outliers, and Travis [Kelce] is definitely one of them,” Veach said. “It’s not even May yet, but during phase two of workouts, Travis was the first guy out there, and he looked like he was 28 years old.”

Veach noted that it’s rare for players to maintain high performance into their late 30s, but unicorns like Kelce do exist. The NFL will soon release the upcoming season’s schedule, providing the Chiefs with a roadmap for their quest to become back-to-back-to-back Super Bowl champions.
