Prince William recently provided a rare update on his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, who is currently battling cancer. During a visit to James’ Place Newcastle in England, he was approached by well-wishers who inquired about his family’s well-being.
In response to a woman’s question about his wife and children, the Prince of Wales assured that they were all doing well. When specifically asked about Catherine, William reiterated that everyone in the family was doing fine.
William’s visit to northeast England marked his third day of royal duties since Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis. His engagements at James’ Place, a mental health organization, and a visit to the 2022 Earthshot Prize finalist, Low Carbon Materials, were part of his official duties.
Prior to this, William took a break from public duties while his children were on Easter break, resuming his work shortly after they returned to school.
Meanwhile, on the same day, William’s father, King Charles III, returned to public-facing duties for the first time since his cancer diagnosis. The 75-year-old monarch visited the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre accompanied by Queen Camilla. The visit was described as the first in a series of external engagements for Charles in the coming weeks.
This development comes after Charles took a three-month break following his cancer diagnosis. While he is well enough to resume his duties, he continues to receive treatment for his condition.
In February, Buckingham Palace announced Charles’ cancer diagnosis, stating that a form of cancer was identified during a medical procedure for benign prostate enlargement. The palace emphasized that Charles chose to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and to aid public understanding of cancer.
Additionally, Middleton revealed in a video shared in March that she, too, is battling cancer and has been undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatment. The diagnosis was made after postoperative tests following her abdominal surgery in January.
As Middleton continues her recovery, she remains on a break from royal duties. It is believed that the royal couple intentionally announced Middleton’s diagnosis during Easter break to have private family time amidst media attention.
