Speculation is mounting about the potential trade of Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears, with many believing it’s just a matter of time before it happens.
The prevailing notion in Bears’ circles is centered around drafting a new quarterback like Caleb Williams from the upcoming draft, signaling a potential move away from Fields.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated suggests that the groundwork for a trade could be laid as early as next week. He emphasized the importance of acting swiftly to maximize the return on Fields, given the approaching NFL offseason.
Breer explains that with the new league year starting on March 13 and free agency kicking off, the Bears risk losing out on prime opportunities to capitalize on Fields’ trade value if they delay the process. Key quarterbacks like Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield, and Russell Wilson could quickly come off the market, potentially impacting the leverage in any trade negotiations involving Fields.
Recently, Fields caused a stir by unfollowing the Bears on Instagram, fueling rumors of his imminent departure. However, he clarified in an interview with “The 33rd Team” that it was merely a move to declutter his feed before a vacation.
In the same interview, Fields expressed his desire to have clarity regarding his future, stating his preference to remain in Chicago. Despite the ongoing trade talks and speculation, he reiterated his affection for the city and its passionate fan base.
Fields emphasized that while the situation is out of his hands, he would love to continue playing for the Bears if given the choice.
