For quite some time, there have been whispers about Sonos, renowned for its speakers, venturing into the realm of headphones. These murmurs have gained momentum in recent months, and now, we’ve been given a glimpse of what’s to come – albeit unintentionally. Images of the upcoming Sonos Ace wireless headphones have surfaced online, courtesy of a mishap by Schuurman, an authorized Sonos partner.
The leaked images reveal intriguing details about the headphones. They sport physical buttons on each earcup, along with a toggle switch, and their design bears a resemblance to Apple’s AirPods Max, featuring slender, adjustable stems possibly crafted from metal.
Additionally, one leaked image offers a peek into the contents of the Sonos Ace wireless headphones’ packaging. The headphones come enclosed in a protective case, accompanied by a USB-C cable, a 3.5mm adapter, and a small, enigmatic black box.
As for technical specifications, details remain elusive for now. However, it’s confirmed that the headphones will boast seamless integration with Sonos speakers. Notably, owners of Sonos soundbars will have the ability to stream TV audio directly to the headphones, among other features.
Previous speculations hinted at a price tag around $450 for the Sonos wireless headphones, and Schuurman’s listing of €403.58 appears to align with these rumors. In comparison, Apple’s AirPods Max are priced at $549, though alternate retailers may offer them at lower rates.
Interestingly, Schuurman’s website also mentions a Sonos Roam 2. The Roam is a portable speaker introduced by Sonos in 2021. With Sonos gearing up to unveil a new app on May 7, there’s speculation that the company might officially unveil these new products later this week.
