Caitlin Clark is entering the WNBA with a level of attention rarely seen for a rookie. As the No. 1 overall pick, all eyes are on her as she starts her professional career, and she’s looking to experienced players for advice.
New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu was asked during a recent media appearance if she had any advice for Clark as she transitions into the WNBA. Ionescu emphasized the importance of patience and confidence, saying, “I would say just give yourself grace in the process, and be confident in yourself as you navigate the highs and lows. There’s a lot of adversity in your rookie year. You leave your comfort zone, your university, and you just go out and you’re a pro.”
“You’ve got to figure everything out on your own—you leave home, and there’s a lot to deal with. There will be times when it feels like a roller coaster of ups and downs. The rookie season is all about learning. Everything else will fall into place,” she added.
Despite the challenges, Clark showed no signs of struggle in her preseason debut, scoring 21 points in 28 minutes against the Dallas Wings. The former Iowa star will take the court again when she and the Indiana Fever face the Atlanta Dream on Thursday, May 9.
