In a story of remarkable survival, a family from Abilene, Texas, is celebrating what they describe as an “absolute miracle” after their 7-year-old son survived being caught up in a deadly tornado.
The Lamberts recounted their terrifying experience to KWTX-TV, explaining how they took shelter in a closet as the tornado tore through their neighborhood, leaving their home in ruins.
As the storm raged outside, storm chaser Freddy McKinney captured the harrowing scene on video while helping rescue the family. Wes and Kasey Lambert, along with their daughter Allie and son Lane, sought refuge in a closet, bracing themselves for the worst.
Despite the deafening noise of the tornado tearing through their home, they made a split-second decision to flee when they thought the storm was moving away. It was during this chaotic moment that they encountered McKinney.
In the midst of the chaos, Kasey Lambert lost her grip on young Lane, who was then swept up by the tornado. The family feared the worst as they watched him being carried away.
However, in a stroke of incredible luck, Lane was found relatively unharmed on top of a pile of insulation at another part of their demolished home. Although he had dislocated his shoulder and sustained severe cuts to his face, his survival was nothing short of miraculous.
Following the ordeal, every member of the Lambert family, including their dog, received medical attention. Despite their home being reduced to rubble, they are grateful for their survival and the opportunity to heal together.
Reflecting on the experience, Kasey Lambert expressed profound gratitude, emphasizing the miraculous nature of their survival. “It is an absolute miracle,” she said, acknowledging the immense strength of the tornado that they somehow managed to overcome.
