Galactus is on the horizon.
Ralph Ineson, known for his roles in “The Witch” and “The First Omen,” joins the cast of Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four” as the formidable cosmic villain Galactus.
In this new Marvel venture, the iconic superhero team, comprised of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (the Thing), will face off against Galactus. Also joining the ensemble are John Malkovich and Paul Walter Hauser, with Julia Garner portraying Shalla-Bal, a rendition of the Silver Surfer.
First introduced in 1966 in a “Fantastic Four” comic, Galactus is a cosmic entity of immense power who sustains himself by consuming entire planets and their inhabitants. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Galactus stands apart from traditional comic book villains, embodying a force of nature rather than pure evil. Despite his destructive nature, he occasionally allies with the heroes of the Marvel universe to face greater threats.
The inclusion of Galactus in “The Fantastic Four” hints at broader implications for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), particularly in the forthcoming “Avengers: Secret Wars.” This decision also introduces the concept of the Ultimate Nullifier, a weapon capable of defeating Galactus, which may play a pivotal role in future MCU storylines.
Directed by Matt Shakman, known for his work on “WandaVision,” and featuring a script penned by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Ian Springer, and Peter Cameron, “The Fantastic Four” promises to be a thrilling addition to the MCU.
Ineson’s casting underscores his impressive resume, which includes roles in franchises like “Harry Potter,” “Star Wars,” and “Kingsman.” Interestingly, this won’t be his first appearance in the MCU, as he previously portrayed a ravager pilot in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Ineson is represented by Gordon and French, and Gersh.
