Ubisoft’s upcoming free-to-play first-person shooter, XDefiant, has finally locked in its release date, and it’s just around the corner. Set to launch on May 21, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Ubisoft Connect.
The release marks the start of the XDefiant preseason, offering players a chance to dive into the action before the official first season kicks off. This announcement comes after several beta tests and trials, which had previously led to the game’s indefinite delay last year.
Expressing gratitude to participants of the Server Test Session, an XDefiant blog post thanked players for their feedback and excitement. The preseason will run for six weeks before transitioning into the game’s seasonal schedule.
Ubisoft has already laid out plans for the first four seasons, comprising XDefiant’s Year 1 roadmap. Players can anticipate a wealth of content during the preseason, all of which will be available for free.
Featuring various factions like Echelon (Splinter Cell), Phantoms (Ghost Recon Phantoms), Cleaners (The Division), and Libertad (Far Cry 6), along with maps and modes, there’s plenty to explore and enjoy.
Additionally, Ubisoft promises a new Ranked Mode Practice Playlist during the preseason, allowing players to hone their skills in preparation for competitive 4v4 matches. Rewards earned during previous test sessions will carry over to the preseason launch.
With XDefiant gearing up for its six-week preseason, players can expect an exciting period ahead. For more insights into the game, players can explore Game Informer’s impressions and dive into new gameplay previews.
