Travis Kelce opened up about the beginnings of his relationship with Taylor Swift during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Contrary to popular assumptions, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed that he and the 12-time Grammy winner were already familiar with each other for almost a month before her appearance at his game against the Chicago Bears on September 24, 2023.
Kelce clarified that the public invitation for Swift to attend the game wasn’t impromptu, stating, “It wasn’t just an out-of-the-blue, ‘Hey, come to the game.’” He had prior knowledge of Swift’s attendance.
Since that game, Swift has become a regular supporter at Kelce’s games, attending 12 in total. Kelce expressed his delight at Swift’s consistent presence, calling it a “wonderful year” and acknowledging the unpredictability of their journey.
Reflecting on the attention their relationship has garnered, Kelce remarked, “You know, it’s been a crazy, crazy ride that I could have never anticipated. But I’m having fun with it.” He humorously added, “The majority of the world is having fun with it, outside all the cranky NFL fans that just don’t want to see the Chiefs win.”
Kelce also shared a sweet detail from July 2023 when he mentioned his plan to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number at her Kansas City show. Despite some disappointment, he playfully noted, “So, I was a little butthurt that I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her. If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it.”
