Netflix’s special, “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady,” has stirred up a lot of buzz since it aired live on Sunday. The Kelce brothers, Travis and Jason, shared their thoughts on the latest episode of their “New Heights” podcast, with each brother having a different take on the roast. Travis, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, was amazed by what he saw, saying it was “unbelievable.”
“I was in tears all day watching the clips,” he said.
Jason, who recently retired from the Philadelphia Eagles, was a bit more hesitant when a fan asked if the brothers would consider getting roasted themselves. While Jason said he was entertained by the Brady roast, he didn’t quite understand why anyone would sign up for what Brady went through. But he did appreciate the star-studded lineup and the presence of iconic NFL figures and celebrities at the event.
“It was pure entertainment, and I’m glad they did it, but I don’t get roasts,” Jason said. “I don’t know why people do them. Maybe I take myself too seriously. It was star-studded. The best part was how many iconic NFL players and celebrities were there. Plus, the entire Patriots dynasty showed up for Tom. But I just don’t get why people do roasts. It’s like, ‘Haha, my family’s ruined. So funny. Everyone’s laughing. Great, we’re having fun.'”
During the roast, nothing was off-limits, from Brady’s past marriage to Gisele Bündchen, to the deflategate scandal, and even his failed cryptocurrency investment. The only joke that seemed to make Brady uncomfortable was a “massage” remark by roast master Jeff Ross aimed at longtime New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
Travis praised Brady for being a “good sport” throughout the three-hour event, despite some really harsh jokes.
“I commend everybody because no one seemed to get their feelings hurt. It looked like everyone was having fun. But at the same time, that s— had me rolling because of how at everybody’s neck people were going.”
While it’s not clear how much Brady got paid to endure the roast, Jason mentioned that he would do it for the right price.
“I take it back. I’ll do a roast. What’d you guys pay Tom? The one person I wouldn’t allow on stage is my wife, Kylie,” he said. “She knows too much. Every day, I’m getting roasted by Kylie.”
