Senate Unanimously Passes Resolution Honoring Late Former Governor Bob Graham
Florida Senator Rick Scott announced that the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution honoring the late former Florida Governor and U.S. Senator Bob Graham. Graham, who passed away last month at the age of 87, had a distinguished career in public office spanning several decades.
Graham served two terms as Florida’s Governor from 1979 to 1987 and three terms as a U.S. Senator from 1987 to 2005. Senator Scott introduced the resolution celebrating Graham’s life, which was co-sponsored by all 99 other senators.
In a statement, Senator Scott expressed his condolences, describing Graham as a “good man and a great Floridian” who dedicated his life to serving the state. He emphasized Graham’s lasting legacy and the positive impact he had on Florida’s families.
Last Friday, a ceremony was held at the Florida Historic Capitol Museum in Tallahassee, where Graham lay in state. Following the ceremony, he was laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery in Tallahassee in a private ceremony.
A memorial service for Graham is scheduled to take place in his hometown of Miami Lakes on Saturday, May 11, at the Miami Lakes United Church of Christ.
