Keep an eye out for a very special gentle giant named WallyGator, affectionately known as Wally. He’s an exceptional emotional support animal who has touched the hearts of many. Wally, an alligator, was discovered in a pond at Disney World and, due to Florida laws preventing the relocation of alligators, he found a home with Joie Henney, a reptile rescue enthusiast from Pennsylvania.
Over the course of seven years, Wally and Joie forged a deep bond that changed both of their lives. Joie, who struggled with depression following the loss of loved ones, found solace and companionship in Wally’s presence. Wally, with his remarkable intelligence and emotional intuition, provided Joie with comfort and support like no other.
Together, they became inseparable companions, embarking on adventures to various places, including the dentist’s office, meet-and-greets, and even weddings where Wally served as a ring bearer. Wally gained fame on social media for his gentle nature, cuddly demeanor, and signature hugs, earning him a spot in the running for America’s Favorite Pet in 2022.
Tragically, Wally, now eight years old, has gone missing. During a visit to friends in Brunswick, Georgia, he was stolen from his secured enclosure while Joie was away fishing. In a heartfelt plea on WallyGator’s TikTok, Joie appealed for help in locating his beloved companion, offering a reward for his safe return.
According to updates on Wally’s Facebook page, it’s believed that Wally was stolen by a local resident with malicious intent, who later released him into an unknown location among other alligators. As a domesticated emotional support animal, Wally’s chances of survival in the wild are slim.
Despite the challenges in locating Wally, his supporters have rallied behind Joie, contributing to a GoFundMe campaign to aid in the search efforts. The community has shared messages of hope, love, and support for Wally’s safe return, demonstrating the impact he has had on so many lives.
As the search continues, Wally’s fans remain hopeful for his swift and safe return home.
