Exciting news on the horizon for film enthusiasts as Yorgos Zois gears up for the world premiere of his latest creation, “Arcadia,” at the Berlin Film Festival’s Encounters section. Beta Cinema will be showcasing the film at the European Film Market, and the recently unveiled trailer is already buzzing with anticipation.
The plot unfolds around Katerina, a neurologist, and Yannis, a former doctor, embarking on a journey to a deserted seaside resort. The eerie silence in the car mirrors the less-than-pleasant reason for their trip – Yannis has been called to identify a victim of a tragic accident in a small-town hospital.
As the local policeman leads them to the morgue, confirming Katerina’s worst fears about the accident, the duo, accompanied by Yannis, begins unraveling the mystery. Nightly escapades to the mysterious beach bar, Arcadia, add layers to their investigation, revealing a poignant tale of love, loss, acceptance, and the art of letting go.
The script, crafted by Konstantina Kotzamani and Zois, features stellar performances by Vangelis Mourikis as Yannis and Angeliki Papoulia as Katerina. Antigoni Rota, Maria Drandaki, and Stelios Cotionis are at the helm of production, with Veselka Kiryakova joining as the co-producer. Foss Productions and Homemade Films, along with Red Carpet as the co-producer, bring Zois’ vision to life.
Zois, renowned for works like “Casus Belli” and “Interruption,” envisions “Arcadia” as a seamless continuation of his exploration into the realms of love and loss, where reality intertwines with the imaginary.
Tassilo Hallbauer, head of sales and acquisitions at Beta Cinema, commends “Arcadia” as a true cinematic gem with universal appeal. He emphasizes the film’s magical narrative and emotional resonance, predicting that audiences worldwide will be captivated by Yorgos Zios’ remarkable storytelling.
Get ready for a cinematic journey that transcends boundaries and touches the heart – “Arcadia” promises to be a unique and unforgettable experience for film lovers around the globe.
